www.musefest.org
Join us for the 8th annual Musefest, known as the prideful tribute to Ithaca New York’s vibrant music scene. Featuring over 40 bands on 4 stages, representing many musical styles and genres, the Musefest has something for everyone. All info about the event and tickets to the Musefest can be found at the official website www.musefest.org.
This year, The Muse has gone through many changes, as the Musefest founder and principle organizer moved from the area, leaving the opportunity for the event to develop in a different direction. This years Musefest has a feeling of excitement and change unlike any of the past shows, but is still holding true to the original principles and ideals that have made the Musefest a successful annual event. Join us for this wonderful weekend of music, dancing and community as we take the Musefest 'Back to Basics' in 2007!
The Musefest is held at Newhart's Lodge just 10 miles outside of Ithaca NY and has been received with enormous support and excitement for the past seven years. This year will be no different. At Musefest, one can see some of the best bands upstate New York has to offer, featuring a wide musical variety for festival attendees of all ages.
Beginning 8 years ago, this volunteer based music festival represents a blend of many high ideals. Based on the principles of cooperation and freedom, as well as the love of many types of music, the festival creates its own weekend community. Those attending the festival certainly appreciate that Musefest is an inexpensive event and has much to offer, the festival creates an atmosphere of respect and freedom available for all to enjoy.
Musefest is a wonderful event supporting and exhibiting innovative creative independent music. This music festival is not only a place to hear great new music, but is also a way to bridge different worlds and build community.
New Camping and Parking Options:
The 8th Annual Musefest will features new camping and parking options.
General camping will continue to be free in a beautiful wooded landscape. This year, the Family Camping area will also be free, and will continue to be fenced in, with quiet hours, and will feature the ever-popular 'kiddie village' with activities for children of all ages.
This year, we are opening up the festival grounds for Car Side Camping, and Vehicle Parking, which will be a first for the Musefest, and will create a convenient alternative for the past years parking and camping issues. All parking will take place on the Musefest grounds, we recommend carpooling, as space is limited.
New parking and camping pricing and policies can be found at the website: www.musefest.org
Ticket Price and Volunteering:
Musefest pre-sale tickets cost $30, and are available at ticket outlets throughout the Ithaca area. Tickets will be available at the gate for $45. Children under twelve years of age are admitted free with paid parent or guardian, and festival attendees under eighteen years of age must be accompanied by an adult. More information about tickets, including a list of ticket outlets, is available at the website www.musefest.org
The Musefest was built by giving freely of ourselves, and we offer volunteering as an alternate way to attend Musefest. Volunteers must offer a minimum of eight hours of time to help the festival run smoothly and successfully, we are taking volunteer applications on a first come first serve basis. See www.musefest.org for details.
Family Friendly:
Musefest is very family oriented as well. Along with the quiet family camping area, events for kids will be going on all weekend. Musefest features an annual kids parade with children, dancers and musicians. Sunday morning, children of all ages dress in costumes, wear face paints, and march around the festival grounds as a wake up call to the onsite village. Parents are asked to bring costumes, instruments, supplies and smiles to participate. At Musefest you may find a puppet theater, story tellers, jugglers, and songs all for the kids.
Also in association with the festival is the “Muse Magazine, a comprehensive music magazine published annually, which details the Ithaca music scene. The magazine provides information about the bands and the local music scene, as well as the Musefest. It is totally free and available across central New York.
